Meaning of the Wilson Lax Spirit Wear Logo

The Five Nations Flag Symbol \ The Wilson Lax Symbol

Hiawatha BeltThis is the national symbol of the Haudenosaunee Confederacy (The Iroquois Confederacy), the creators of the form of lacrosse we play today. The symbols symbolize each of the five original Iroquois nations that came to form the Confederacy.

The central symbol is a white pine tree and represents the Onondaga Nation. It was in the Onondaga Nation that the Peacemaker planted the Tree of Peace and it was under that tree where the leaders of the Five Nations buried their weapons of war and agreed to a great peace amongst the nations. The color white represents their united peace. The color purple represents tranquility and strength+.

From this symbol given to us by the creators of the game of lacrosse, comes a new symbol for Wilson lacrosse and represents the same unity, pride, honor, and respect that we as Wilson players, fans, and family have for the Wilson Lacrosse program. It should be worn proudly with the full knowledge of what it represents to our program. And here it is…

“Our " Lacrosse symbol! Just as the Iroquois symbol represents the unity of the founding five nations of the Iroquois into one Confederacy, our symbol will have special meeting for us and represent “our lax nation” –

Here are the many things that this symbol represents… WEAR IT PROUDLY!!

Meaning of the Wilson Lacrosse Symbol:

The first square to the left – The parents that support the players. Without the parents none of this is possible. They help to anchor the united chain at the beginning and allow the players to be part of our proud program. The square within the square represents the frame of the restraining box the – ‘dance floor’ of the field

The second square to the left – The offensive players on a team; The daring \ risk taking side of the players lax personality; The heart that a player must put into every game; Practice, without which they can not get better at the game

The circle in the square - The ball in the game! Also – the challenges this sport offers us both on and off the field; The crease around the goal that marks the boundary or last line of defense that we must get by to reach our goals; The completeness of the game

The Lacrosse Head –The central, largest symbol represents the players themselves; The players lax I.Q. that they are always developing in their own ‘heads’, both their minds and the head of their sticks, to improve their game; The sport of lacrosse; The players love of the sport; The tool by which the players extent themselves on the playing field to showcase their physical and mental prowess

The third square on the right – The defensive players on a team; The conservative, no nonsense, back to basics side of the players lax personality; The hustle the players must put into every game; Game play, the time they put their practice and knowledge to use as proof that they are learning the game

The triangle in the square – The goal! Also – The goalie, the most important player on the team – lacrosse version of a quarterback, pitcher, point guard; The triangles of three players that are formed on the field as we move the ball up and down the field; The trinity of the players – offense, defense, and their combined spirit as a team

The fourth square on the right – The coaches that guide the players on the field and complete the chain. They help anchor the players to the game, teaching and training them to be the best they can be – both on and off the field. The square within the square represents the frame of the entire field that the players must play the sport of lacrosse in, their “home” that they live in when they are living the game of lacrosse

Red – Represents the strength of the Wilson team, our team spirit

White – Represents the color that unities us on and off the field

This Symbol – The oval shape represents our connected unity as a team, as a lacrosse community and surrounds all of the values, skills, and experiences we should always treasure playing lacrosse!
